”It's wack, Logan. How can you not see how wack it is?”

Logan turned his chair around from the computer screen and stared at Max with a puzzled look. ”I don't understand what you are talking about.”

”You asked that man here, in your home? You don't know him or the man he claims he is working for, yet you are just inviting him in, giving him information, offering him coffee? That's wack Logan.”

”Why wouldn't I believe him? Look at his crews track record in Washington, that is seriously impressive. They've caught more big time crooks than you and me. This...Gibbs...seems to be really on top of things there.”

Max glanced at the computer screens and the information Logan had gathered so far. She had read everything and it all looked nice and neat, but she still had a problem with this Tony. First, there was the way he had checked her rack with a competent manner and quipped something not even closely resembling funny, then secondly, he had walked around Logan's pad like he owned the place, with smug grin that Max just itched to slap from his face.

”Besides, I have a good feeling about him. He has a trustworthy face.” Logan noted, like he really meant it. Max scoffed and stomped back to the living room.

The coffee mugs were still sitting at the table. Logan had offered some of the rare and expensive coffee to the stranger and that just annoyed Max. She had planned to swing by tomorrow morning to borrow some to get her day started, but now the coffee was gone. The jerk had drank it all. She paced around the living room before returning back to the doorway of Logan's office.

”Just because his face is familiar, it doesn't mean you should trust him.” Max said and crossed her arms in a way that Logan had labeled 'stubborn and troublesome'.

”What do you mean?”

”He looks exactly like you! If you were twenty years older and forty pounds heavier, I mean. The way he tilts his head or the shape of his shoulders? The eyes, the nose? He even sounded like you at times!”

“Hm. You've paid attention to my shoulders?”

Max shrugged like the question meant nothing. “I've noticed.”

“I see.” Logan said and turned back to the computers, hiding his smile. “I appreciate your concern, and intuition, but I think this attitude might be the result of how he checked out your... natural assets?”

“Hah. You noticed?”

It was Logan's turn to shrug. “I noticed.”

There was something edgy in his voice, like he didn't actually approve someone else checking her out. Max pondered this for a moment because it was a nice notion.

“I could easily go check this motel he claims he is staying, you know, just to see if he is on the up and up?”

“No harm in that.”
