I went to see the XM:A in the premiere! It wasn't even close to sold out, compared to Civil War which barely had seats left. I went straight from work after a long day (all our pricing changed, and it was like having the first day all over again), so I don't know how coherent my thoughts are, but here's some impressions:
- it felt VERY regurgitated. I mean, my favorite parts were actual clips from XM:FC and remix of Wolverine's escape from X2 (except without the fun butt shot, boo. Kinda wished Deadpool would have shown up to give an example how its done)
- best bits involved Quicksilver, though it felt cheap that they brought up the whole 'he's my father' -thing, and then didn't play that card
- Erik's family was fridged about the dumbest way possible, and though Imdb says the wife's name is Magda, I don't actually remember she was called anything but 'wife' the few moments that she was on screen (though she was lovely, and their daughter had a very cool mutation)
- Loved Moira's Indiana Jones -bit, and I actually liked the way they revisited Moira/Charles, though the whole mind wipe thing as comedic relief was a bit...icky.
- I actually liked Jean! I'm shocked. (though the whole bit with Wolvie, and I was right back disliking the whole thing. Talk about regurgitated.)
- there was so MUCH destruction porn fueled by Magneto, it was exhausting and numbing.
- Hank was a cutie patootie. Charles was a damsel in distress. Also, he cried very prettily.
- Over all...Eh.
